Bio:

Before W.I.T.C.H. Before she became a Guardian, Hay Lin worked at her family's restaurant, the Silver Dragon, and went to school. She would goof off in classes quite often and change everyone of her projects into something creative, normally raising the ire of her teachers. One time, she was assigned the task of making a simple kite for a school project. Hay Lin however, chose to make a very fancy Chinese Dragon kite and spent the entire night working on it! Sadly, Hay Lin's teacher failed her before she even got a chance to fly it on the assumption that it wouldn't fly on it's own, and that it was too heavy to lift off the ground. Fortunately for Hay Lin, her connection to the element of Air was established long before she became a Guardian and her kite turned out to be the only one in the class that managed to fly. At the time, Hay Lin didn't know about her connection to the element of Air; that became fact a few days after she met Will Vandom.




The Formation of W.I.T.C.H. Due to her mind being influenced by her grandmother Yan Lin, Hay Lin invited Taranee, Cornelia, Irma and Will-who had been the new girl in school at the time-over for tea and cookies after school. Once there, the girls learned about the Heart, their elemental powers and Meridian. Nothing specific had been mentioned about Kandrakar at the time. The Heart was then entrusted to Will, and due to their newfound connection with Will, Hay Lin and the girls soon became fast friends with her.

Hay Lin has power over air, hence her title as the Guardian of Air. She can create and manipulate the aspects of wind and the air. She can also levitate objects using her elemental power. (In the comic book W.I.T.C.H, Hay Lin is the only member of the group who can fly; she can temporarily give the others the ability to fly.) The Guardians can all fly, but Hay Lin can fly the highest and the quickest among the others. Hay Lin also shows the ability to control the temperature of the air around her, and uses this power often to freeze enemies.

Following the lowering of the Veil around Meridian when they had helped the rebels bring down Phobos and restore their friend Elyon to her rightful place on the throne, the Guardians' powers were given a major boost. As a result of this, Hay Lin can now recall people's memories by listening to their favorite music and learn the history of an object by not only the sound it makes, but also by touching it and closing her eyes. When she does this, she is feeling the atmospheres the object was in and how it was touched. Hay Lin is the only Guardian who can become invisible and make other things invisible. (In the comic book, all the Guardians can become invisible; Will was the first one to find out how.) Hay Lin can hear sounds, noises and voices from great distances, explaining that this is because sound vibrations travel through air. Hay Lin has a greater power of empathic precognition than the other Guardians. She used to get dreams prior to Elyon's coronation in which she was Elyon and sat on a throne, the same throne in which Phobos later used to drain Elyon's powers.





Hay Lin's Personality: Hay Lin attempts to see the positive in everything and often acts as a peacemaker if other members of the group disagree. She is a very impulsive, strong minded and feisty girl who is likely to crash into any situation without thinking of the physical risk. She's always cheerful, full of energy and very optimistic. She does get angry, as shown in the Season 2 episode 'R' is for Relentless when her Grandmother was targeted by Nerissa as the final member of the former Guardians who hadn't been abducted.

She's an extremely creative person who loves to draw, paint and sketch. Her favorite subject in school is art. She's possibly considered a comic book/alien nerd at heart because of her love to collect comic books and alien collectables. She enjoys just about anything related to science fiction, air or art. She isn't superb at Physical Education sadly, which was confirmed when she said she needs to get into shape after running.

Hay Lin also has a habit of writing people's names, dates, numbers and anything else that might come in handy on the back of her hand or arm so she won't forget anything important during one of her creative brainstorms. She has a crush on Eric Lyndon, who likes her just as much. Though ever since she's come to the Digital World, Hay Lin recently discovered that her interests lie more toward girls and was uncertain for a time how to inform her closest friends as such. So far, she's told Will, Irma, Taranee, Caleb, Matt & Elyon about said interests; Cornelia found out when a sprig of talking mistletoe blabbed over a journal entry in December 2008 that Hay Lin was involved in a relationship with another girl. Hay Lin had smashed said sprig into the ground repeatedly and sent it to Colette for 'interrogation.'

Currently, Hay Lin is involved in a committed relationship with Queen Elyon Brown from the world of Meridian though at one point she was linked with Tatum Elizabeth O'Neil and had feelings toward Ryoko Hakubi, Terra 'Ashley' Markov, Princess Sakura (from Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicles), and Irma Lair. Previously she tried to resist any romantic feelings toward the latter 4 along with Elyon while remaining true to Tatum. Due to events involving Terra, it's not entirely working the way Hay Lin would like it to. Thankfully, Hay Lin has come to terms regarding Tatum-to a point-Caleb, Ryoko, Matthew's partner D'Arcmon, Terra, and Princess Sakura; other than her close bond with Irma, which she and Irma agreed that they would discuss upon their return to their world Hay Lin ultimately listened to her heart, sadly broke up with Tatum and decided to start a relationship with Elyon with her feelings being reciprocated as such. Hay Lin also learns the responsibility of being a mother as her Brainbreaker daughter, Yvaine Lin Brown - who prefers to go by Evvy - arrives from the future and lives with her in Heatherfield, with occasional visits to see her other mother Elyon when time permits it.

Yan Lin: Nah, it was in the attic. I couldn't find it. Found my old tennis racquet too. Fore!
